Wooden boat regatta in Oravi harbour

Gathering of Wooden Boat Enthusiasts of the Vuoksi Waterway at Oravi Harbor. Live Music Performances!

The Wooden Boat Vuoksi is an informal association of wooden boat enthusiasts and boaters in the Vuoksi waterway region. It aims to engage members of the local boating and sailing clubs, as well as anyone interested in wooden boats. The traditional wooden boat gathering is held annually. On Saturday, the public has the opportunity to get a closer look at the boats, with the crews more than happy to showcase them. You can also inquire about experiences in wooden boat maintenance and the general ideology of wooden boating.

During the weekend, we also expect high-quality musical performances. Performers include:

Violin Virtuoso Petri Kaskela
Kaskela won first prize at the Michelangelo Abbado Violin Competition in Italy.
Program in Oravi: Niccolò Paganini's Caprices 14, 17, 24, and Fritz Kreisler's Recitativo and Scherzo-Caprice.

Jiri Parviainen on Double Bass
Parviainen has served as a double bassist with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra and as a bass instructor at the Sibelius Academy. He is currently a professor at the Tallinn Bass School.

Jari Pekkinen will be responsible for the evening dance at the Makasiini Restaurant.
